A How-to Guide

The taskbar (as shown below) is the bar at the bottom of your screen. You can ‘pin’ programs to the Windows task bar easily. If you do this with you most regularly used programs then they become easy to access. To pin programs to your task bar just follow the steps below:

Step 1

Simply press the Windows key to get to the Start bar (Windows 7 & 10) or Metro screen (Windows 8).

Step 2

Now start typing the name of the program that you want (don’t press the enter key). i.e. “Outlook”, or perhaps “Word”.

(Below is the Windows 8 ‘Metro Screen’. If you are running a different version of Windows you will simply get a search bar in the bottom left of your screen.)

Step 3

Now right click on the program that you want to pin, and select “Pin to Task Bar”. You can also “Pin to Start Menu” to add it to your desktop!

You will find the program shortcut added to your task bar. You can simply click it and the program will open.
