Does your Wi-Fi reach the whole house?
The general rule of thumb is that Wi-Fi will transmit through 2 walls. However, put a fridge or radiator in the way and that can shield a room altogether.
Add in the steel frame of a modern building and Wi-Fi often stops.
We supply Ubiquiti Wi-Fi Access points and connect them to a cloud control panel. This means that we can see if devices are dropping connections and more importantly you can control who has priority. You can for instance set a slow connection for a heating controller and give priority to your tablet or laptop so you get great film or music streaming.
Other systems are not as flexible or reliable.
Normally Ubiquiti equipment is reserved for business networks however all of our home customers tell us we should shout about the system because it just installs and works. So here we are – SHOUTING!
Is your Wifi Secure?
It’s not just your PC that is connected to the internet. Nowadays the list if connected devices is exploding. iPod, TV’s, security cameras, Heating systems, door bells, baby alarms, showers (yes showers), garden watering systems, the list is endless and the uses are growing all the time.
This means that security is important because more and more of your life is relying on Wi-Fi.
When you first connect a device you type a password and its checked by the wireless router. This means that you have to connect wirelessly to the router to send the password.
During the short time before the password is verified the wireless is in secure! This happens every time your device is turned on and off, or goes in and out of range.
Although the information still has a basic encryption The transmission at that time can be used to crack your network. It’s just like Bletchley Park did to crack Enigma. The same password is transmitted each time and so the same series of encoded characters is sent every time. Once cracked, attackers can download information or programs without you knowing. Attackers can slow down your broadband by sharing it.
I’m sure you all saw the court case when Google were accused of connecting to home Wi-Fi networks to upload pictures when creating the map data. Although just for a short period, this would have impacted on the home owns signal! Its just an example of what can happen if a network isn’t set up properly.
Our system makes it easy for you to change passwords , or we can do that for you without even having to visit! You remain secure and reliable.

Most recently Ash has been setting up some laptops with some fairly obtuse software for us, however, the process, which is usually difficult and arduous, has been really smooth thanks to him.
I look forward to working with him again!
